Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a condition that affects the brain and spinal cord resulting in loss of muscle control, vision, balance, sensation (such as numbness) or thinking ability.
Patients are seen at the Multiple Sclerosis Center at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester for evaluation, diagnosis and ongoing treatment of MS. Our staff provides comprehensive, compassionate care using the best available treatments. We are also committed to teaching patients and doctors about MS, and developing and testing new treatments to help patients.
Some of the center’s clinical services include:
- Evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of immune mediate diseases (neurolupus, neurosarcoidosis, vasculitis) and neuro-HIV infection
- Evaluation for bracing services
- Evaluation for physical, occupational and speech therapy
- Full neurological evaluations and treatments of MS symptoms
- Investigational drug trials of new treatments for chronic and/or relapsing MS
- Psychological evaluation and counseling
- Nursing and educational services
- Spasticity management by ITB and Botulinium Toxin Treatment
The MS Center, affiliated with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, is patient friendly, with convenient access from valet parking service and self-park facilities.
