Ronald McDonald Care Mobile
|
Through the generosity of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern New England, Inc., as well as the UMass Memorial Neonatal Fund, Verizon Wireless, Greater Worcester Community Foundation, The Albert Rice Foundation, Fallon OrNda and individual donors, UMass Memorial Medical Center launched the nation's first Ronald McDonald Mobile Care Unit during summer 2000.
Complete with medical and dental exam rooms and a lab, the mobile unit is staffed with nurse practitioners, a phlebotomist, community outreach workers and a dental hygienist. In addition to providing on-the-spot medical care, the staff works to connect children and their families to primary care physicians and other providers, as well as help them enroll in appropriate insurance programs.
