UMass Memorial Medical Center is a leader in gastrointestinal (GI) cancer care. The GI cancer team includes radiation, medical and surgical oncologists, and other specialists. The team has special expertise in GI cancers that are difficult to diagnose and treat. These cancers are located in the:
- Esophagus
- Pancreas

The Center for Gastrointestinal Oncology serves as a convenient hub for bringing together these same specialists in a single setting to discuss individual GI cancer care. Decisions regarding diagnosis and treatment are made collaboratively, thereby providing the best possible treatment and care. A GI tumor board conference is held each week to formulate a comprehensive, individualized treatment strategy for all patients.
