BARRE - Barre Family Health Center (BFHC) announces the appointment of three new physicians and the availability of digital mammography services.

Stephen Martin, MD, EdM, Allison Hargreaves, MD, and Cynthia Jeremiah, MD, are all members of the UMass Memorial Medical Group and are accepting new patients at the outpatient facility located at 151 Worcester Road in Barre. Physicians at BFHC provide comprehensive family and prenatal care and have serviced the residents of Barre and the surrounding communities since 1973.

In addition to these three new primary care providers, BFHC is now providing digital mammography services in Barre for the first time. Digital mammography provides women with the latest technology available for screening women for breast cancer.

Images produced from digital mammography equipment are much clearer than what was previously available through film-based mammography. The exceptionally clear pictures are raised to yet another level of clarity when viewed on high-resolution monitors. The monitors act much like high-definition televisions to create a remarkably sharp image, allowing radiologists to make a more accurate diagnosis. The digital mammography exam also takes less time than traditional film mammography. And because a clear image is obtained the first time, there is minimal need to repeat an exam.

To schedule routine digital mammography appointments, call 508-334-9900 and request an appointment at Barre Family Health Center. A physician referral is not required for an annual mammogram for women 40 years and older.
