Addition to the Heart and Vascular Center of Excellence Brings Improved Access and Continuity of Care to Thousands of Patients FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Worcester, MA - The physicians and staff of Cardiology Consultants of Central Massachusetts (CCCM), a premier private cardiology practice, have joined the UMass Memorial Medical Group, the faculty practice plan for UMass Memorial Health Care and the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Cardiology Consultants of Central Massachusetts, who saw more than 24,000 patient visits last year, will continue to provide care at their current location at 40 Converse Street in Worcester under the new name UMass Memorial Cardiology. The practice, which was formed in 1979, offers a full range of diagnostic, interventional, and therapeutic services in the comprehensive management of cardiovascular diseases. "We are pleased to join the UMass Memorial Medical Group, further enhancing our relationship with UMass Memorial Health Care," said David Lyons, MD, president of CCCM. "We are taking this step because the Heart and Vascular Center of Excellence at UMass Memorial has developed into one of the nation's leading programs for cardiovascular care. Joining the Medical Group means not only ongoing high-quality care delivered by our dedicated staff, but also better access to specialty services provided by more than 960 physicians who are part of the Medical Group." "It is a pleasure to welcome physicians of their caliber to our Medical Group," said Daniel Lasser, MD, interim president of the UMass Memorial Medical Group. "This partnership will mean patients will only see increased access to services that have earned our Heart and Vascular Center of Excellence national acclaim over the years." The six physicians of the practice - Drs. Richard Angoff, Clifford Browning, Joshua Greenberg, David Lyons, Dennis Maki and Richard Wholey - are all long-standing members of the active medical staff at UMass Memorial and faculty members of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. |
