CLINTON – Sheila Daly, RN, MSN, CPHQ, president and CEO of Clinton Hospital, announced that Douglas Brown, senior vice president for member hospitals and chief legal officer for the UMass Memorial Health Care system, and David Fairchild, MD, MPH, senior vice president of clinical integration for the UMass Memorial Health Care system, and professor of medicine for UMass Medical School, were appointed to Clinton Hospital’s Board of Trustees.
“We are very pleased to have not one, but two highly regarded members of UMass Memorial Health Care’s executive leadership team sitting on Clinton Hospital’s Board of Trustees,” said Ms. Daly. “Both Mr. Brown and Dr. Fairchild bring a tremendous amount of expertise and insight to the table, and we are very fortunate to have the opportunity to benefit from their unique experiences.”
Having served as a top executive in the UMass Memorial Health Care system since 2003, Mr. Brown earned his law degree from Boston University and is currently responsible for the oversight of UMass Memorial’s four community hospitals, as well as several system corporate functions, including legal affairs, compliance, internal audit, government affairs, and the self insurance program. He also served for most of 2011 as Interim President and CEO of Marlborough Hospital, one of UMass Memorial’s member hospitals.
As the senior vice president of clinical integration for the system, Dr. Fairchild is responsible for leading the system’s efforts to become a health care delivery system that not only excels at providing health care to those who are sick but also promotes the health of the community it serves. This is a new role for a health care system and requires investment in new expertise and new infrastructure, which Dr. Fairchild is helping to develop. Dr. Fairchild earned his medical degree from Pennsylvania State University Medical School, and completed his residency at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was fellowship trained in faculty development and general internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Dr. Fairchild also holds a master’s degree in public health from Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Fairchild is board certified in internal medicine and is a member of UMass Memorial Medical Group.
