Children requiring highly specialized orthopedic services may be referred to the UMass Memorial Pediatric Orthopedics Services in Worcester. Diagnostic imaging services are offered on-site in the hospital's modern Diagnostic Imaging Department, which provides radiology, ultrasound, computed tomography (CT) scanning and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). For individuals suffering from arthritis and joint pain, Clinton Hospital provides consultation and treatments through experienced, board-certified orthopedic physicians and rheumatolgists. A wide range of nonsurgical treatments are available at the hospital, as is arthroscopic day surgery.

Rehabilitation services are also provided to assist patients in regaining maximum function.

Foot and Ankle
Foot and ankle services at Clinton Hospital are provided by our experienced orthopedic surgeon and podiatrists. Orthopedic conditions treated include:

  • Foot and ankle fractures
  • Heel pain
  • Sports injuries

Podiatric conditions treated include:

  • Bunions
  • Diabetes-related foot problems

Following a comprehensive evaluation and personalized assessment, the foot and ankle specialist may recommend surgical or nonsurgical treatments to help relieve painful disorders. Hand and Upper Extremity
Clinton Hospital's orthopedic surgeon provides assessments as well as a variety of treatments for hand and upper extremity injuries. Common injuries treated include:
  • Bone and joint injuries
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome and compression neuropathies
  • Nerve and tendon injuries

Joint Replacement
Pre- and postoperative consultations with an experienced orthopedic surgeon are available for joint replacement patients at Clinton Hospital.

Orthopedic Trauma
For patients suffering from orthopedic trauma injuries, Clinton Hospital provides high-quality care in its Emergency Department. A team of experienced specialists includes our orthopedic surgeon, UMass Memorial Medical Center emergency medicine physicians, nurses and highly skilled technologists. Orthopedic trauma care is enhanced by the diagnostic imaging services at Clinton Hospital.

Patients with critical and complex orthopedic injuries have rapid access by ambulance or Life Flight air ambulance to the Duddie Massad Emergency and Trauma Center at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, the region's only accredited Level One Trauma Center for adults and children.

Comprehensive rehabilitation, including physical and occupational therapies, are offered through Clinton Hospital's rehabilitation services.

Physiatry
A physical medicine and rehabilitation physician works in conjunction with Clinton Hospital's Rehabilitation Department to develop treatment plans for patients suffering from pain, for whom traditional medication was not successful or who are not candidates for surgical procedures. Patients are typically referred to a physiatrist by their primary care physicians to help diagnose mobility or pain issues and prescribe a plan of care through a combination of physical, occupational and speech therapies, as well as medication management and injection therapies.

Physiatrists use rehabilitative therapies to treat physical issues such as:

  • Neck and back pain
  • Stroke recovery
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Adult developmental disabilities
  • Muscle spasms/spasticity
  • Multiple sclerosis (MS) spasticity

Clinton Hospital's orthopedic surgeon provides initial evaluations and nonsurgical treatments of spine problems. If further evaluations or surgical treatments are needed, patients may be referred to the Spine Center at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.

Sports Medicine
Clinton Hospital's sports medicine specialist and orthopedic surgeon offers care for patients with sports-related injuries, including evaluation and treatment of fractures, broken bones, joint dislocations, ligament and cartilage injuries, as well as sprains and strains.
