Emergency Care Delivered Quickly and Effectively
The key to surviving any dire emergency situation is quick intervention. Simply put, the faster your condition is stabilized, the greater your chances are for survival. That alone explains why our community members place such a high value on local care. But, when the advantages of proximity are coupled with expert physicians and compassionate nurses, that community-based care becomes priceless.
“Clinton Hospital’s image has changed considerably over the past 20 years,” said Gregory Volturo, MD, chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at UMass Memorial Health Care and professor of emergency medicine and medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. “Since UMass Memorial physicians began staffing Clinton Hospital’s Emergency Department in 1994, we’ve seen our volume shoot up from 5,000 to 6,000 patients annually, to more than 13,000 visits per year. The quality of our physicians is unsurpassed, and as a result, has greatly increased the capabilities of what we can do in our Emergency Department.” While most local residents know that Clinton Hospital’s emergency staff treats troublesome accidents and illnesses with ease, it’s important to note that our doctors are adept at caring for adult and pediatric patients experiencing more serious trauma, and life-threatening conditions such as heart attack or stroke.
“Our community is very fortunate to have the high-level, quality physicians and nurses that we do working at Clinton Hospital,” explained Dr. Volturo. “Our Emergency Department is staffed around the clock, on site with highly experienced and extensively trained emergency physicians. On-call coverage is provided 24/7 by several additional specialists, including a cardiologist and orthopedist.” He continued, “We also have advanced diagnostic equipment on site and direct access to other Medical Center specialists for telephone or teleconferencing consultations. Most small hospitals or urgent care facilities can’t afford such skill or equipment and those are the things that set us apart.”
“As a Princeton resident only 20 minutes up the road, I encourage my neighbors to use Clinton Hospital for their emergencies. I tell them, ‘You’re going to get the same level of care as you would somewhere else, but without the wait.’”
