The Gateway Health Access Program
helps uninsured people access affordable insurance.
Gateway Health Access Program
Mission Statement
The Gateway Health Access
Program (GHAP) is a regional partnership of physicians, hospitals, dentists,
mental health clinicians and community agencies working to improve the health
and well-being of our communities by increasing access for the uninsured to
coordinated systems of care. GHAP strives to reach this goal through outreach,
education, empowerment and self-accountability for those we serve.
What is GHAP?
Traditionally, GHAP has
connected uninsured people to affordable, quality health care. Currently, by
conducting outreach in our communities, GHAP is providing information and
education on Massachusetts' health care reform, which celebrated its first
anniversary April 9, 2007. The outreach targets area individuals and families as
well as local businesses.
The purpose of health care reform is to allow for health care coverage for
all residents of Massachusetts. It is making real health insurance available
that includes inpatient and outpatients services, and prescription drug coverage
at affordable rates.
As the different phases on health care reform are implemented, GHAP continues
to help the uninsured access health care. Health care reform is complex and
there are many new choices available.
GHAP is a primary source of information for those in our communities who need
information and assistance navigating the new health insurance system. GHAP
provides application and enrollment assistance, as well as post-enrollment
services when necessary.
Who We Serve
GHAP serves the residents in the
following 14 cities and towns: Ashburnham, Ashby, Fitchburg, Gardner,
Hubbardston, Lancaster, Leominster, Lunenburg, Princeton, Sterling, Templeton,
Townsend, Westminster and Winchendon.
If you do not live in our area, GHAP may be able to connect you to other
resources.
How Can I Get Help from GHAP?
Just call your local GHAP office to speak with GHAP staff or to schedule an
appointment with an enrollment specialist.
NOTE: In order to complete the application process, you will need to provide
documentation on your family size and income. This information is used to
determine whether or not you will have a premium to pay and what that payment
will be if you are responsible for a portion of your monthly premium.
GHAP staff is well informed and knowledgeable about health care reform and
the options available through the Commonwealth Connector (Commonwealth Care and
Commonwealth Choice). GHAP staff is available to answer your questions and
assist you through the application and enrollment processes.
