complications during pregnancy because of one of the following conditions:
- Age over 35 years
- Diabetes
- High blood pressure
- History of genetic concerns
- History of pregnancy-related complications
- Multiple gestation
- Previous preterm labor
Patients who require specialized care are referred by their obstetricians or
family medicine providers to a maternal-fetal medicine specialist at
HealthAlliance Hospital for medical, obstetrical or ultrasound consultation. Our
specialists work closely with each patients' physicians to develop a plan of
care tailored to their personal needs and medical history.
Maternal-fetal medicine specialists, the only physicians in the region with
fellowship training in this specialty, provide:
- Antepartum testing for fetal well-being
- Consultation during pregnancy
- Diagnostic procedures such as amniocentesis
- Genetic counseling
- High-resolution ultrasound, including genetic ultrasound
