Marlborough, MA (April 17, 2013) – In keeping with the charitable spirit that has become synonymous with their fraternal organization, the Marlborough Sons of Italy Lodge #240 recently donated $1,000 to the Cancer Pavilion nearing completion at Marlborough Hospital.
“The Sons of Italy want to give back to the community,” noted Betty Evangelous, President of the group. “We support Marlborough Hospital for the care they have given to the community for so long and we want to support the new Cancer Pavilion. It will provide a wonderful service to the residents of the area.”
“We are eternally grateful for this support,” added Ellen Carlucci, Vice president of Development, Marketing and Communications at the hospital. “This kindness and generosity brings us one step closer to bringing high-quality cancer care close to home.”
The Cancer Pavilion at Marlborough Hospital— in partnership with the UMass Memorial Health Care Cancer Center of Excellence and the University of Massachusetts Medical School --will house medical oncology and radiation oncology services; highly trained, skilled cancer specialists; and will include a special space for a meditative Healing Garden. The center is slated to open later this spring.
