The Olsen Intensive Care Unit at Marlborough Hospital is a 10-bed intensive
care unit that stabilizes and manages critically ill patients aged 12 and older.
The unit emphasizes patient- and family-centered care.
Services provided in the Olsen Intensive Care Unit include:
- 24-hour diagnostic imaging support
- Cardiac monitoring
- Drug detoxification
- Invasive and noninvasive hemodynamic monitoring
- Surgical care
- Ventilation
The Olsen Intensive Care Unit is staffed around the clock by a team of
physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists and technicians dedicated to the care
of the intensive care patient. Patients in the unit can be cared for by their
own attending physician, which contributes to the comfort level of both patients
and their families. Consultations with Marlborough Hospital medical and surgical
specialists, as well as those at UMass Memorial Medical Center, are also
available 24 hours a day.
Visiting hours are flexible, depending on the condition of the patient.
Visitors are generally limited to two per patient at any one time.
Marlborough Hospital also offers additional technology to support the
treatment of critically ill patients in our ICUs. eICU audio and visual links allow
intensivists to monitor ICU patients from an off-site support center and serve
as a resource for bedside staff in caring for our most critical patients.
