Mammography

Our new Women's Imaging Center, located at UMass Memorial at Southborough, 28 Newton Street, Southborough is now open, offering women's diagnostic services.

An important component of the premier Marlborough Hospital Women's Imaging Center, mammography services provide women with unparalleled access to screening and testing procedures. Appointments for routine digital mammograms are currently being scheduled within four weeks.

To supplement digital mammography, the Women's Imaging Center also uses digital computer-aided detection (CAD). Digital CAD scans mammogram images and flags abnormalities to help the radiologist detect early breast problems. The technology is often referred to as a "second set of eyes" assisting the radiologist. Extensive studies have proven the CAD system improves breast cancer detection rates by up to 10 percent.

For patients requiring further diagnostic tests, the Women's Imaging Center also offers breast ultrasounds, stereotactic breast biopsies and bone density screening for osteoporosis. For patients requiring breast MRIs, follow-up care is provided at Marlborough Hospital.

Marlborough Hospital's affiliation with UMass Memorial Medical Center and its Comprehensive Breast Center gives patients access to the latest research and treatment for breast cancer.
