Cardiac Rehabilitation Program

Marlborough Hospital offers a comprehensive, four-phase Cardiac Rehabilitation Program that helps individuals recover from recent heart problems, or who are interested in controlling their heart disease risk factors and in improving their overall health.

Individuals are candidates of the program if they have had any of the following conditions or procedures:

  • Heart attack
  • Coronary artery bypass graft surgery
  • Valvular or other cardiac surgery
  • Percutaneous coronary artery angioplasty or stents
  • Stable angina pectoris
  • Coronary artery disease documented by exercise tolerance test or coronary angiography

Phase one is an inpatient program. Phase two and three are outpatient programs. These phases include safe exercise supervised by nurses and clinical exercise physiologists and health education sessions on a wide variety of topics taught by experts.

Phase four, "Take Care of Your Heart Exercise Program," is the maintenance phase program, which provides safe, medically supervised, independent exercise for individuals who have completed phases two and three, or who are interested in an exercise program for weight loss, diabetes control, arthritis management and cardiac risk factor control.

The hospital also offers a Cardiac Rehabilitation Support Group.
