Discovering and Delivering Compassionate, Coordinated Care
In partnership with the American Cancer Society (ACS), the Cancer Resource Center is on-site at UMass Memorial Medical Center to provide support to cancer patients, their family members and caregivers.
The center, staffed by a patient navigator (University Campus) and trained and certified American Cancer Society volunteers, offers current cancer information, cancer programs and services, and referrals to community resources. This includes information on educational programs, transportation to and from appointments, and housing during treatment.
The center is supplied with educational materials, a lending library, hats, scarves and wigs (for patients whose insurance does not cover this). The patient navigator and volunteers visit patients in treatment areas to offer assistance and raise awareness of ACS, UMass Memorial Medical Center and community resources.
