Hemophilia treatment centers are recognized for state-of-the-art medical and psychosocial services, education and research, and a setting where patients are part of the team that makes decisions about their care.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that hospitalizations and illnesses are reduced by 60 percent for patients with hemophilia who receive care at a nationally recognized hemophilia treatment center.

Causes of bleeding disorders include genetic conditions, cancers, bone marrow deficiencies, liver disease, severe toxicity during pregnancy and antibodies that destroy blood-clotting factors.
