Adolescent Medicine

At UMass Memorial Children's Medical Center in Worcester, we have a team of physicians who specialize in the unique health needs of adolescent boys and girls, 10 to 18 years of age (existing patients may continue to be seen up to age 22, and our doctors will make age exceptions for consultations).

Our doctors are pediatricians who are trained in adolescent medicine. They provide primary care, as well as consultations to other physicians and parents for special conditions, including

  • Acne and common skin disorders
  • Chronic Illnesses
  • Disorders of puberty
  • Eating disorders
  • Menstrual problems
  • Preparticipation sports physicals
  • Risk-taking behaviors such as substance abuse
  • Routine gynecology including contraception, sexually transmitted diseases and sexuality problems
  • Wellness visits

Adolescence can be a very difficult period for a preteen or teenager. The physical and emotional changes that occur during adolescence are often confusing for both parents and children.
