Our pediatric cardiology team at UMass Memorial Children's Medical Center in Worcester provides inpatient and outpatient consultative services for the diagnosis and treatment of infants, children and adolescents with heart murmurs, preventative cardiology needs, congenital heart disease and other cardiac problems. Services provided include:
- Pediatric electrocardiography and echocardiography
- Holter monitoring
- Treadmill exercise testing
- Evaluation and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias
- Fetal echocardiography, and comprehensive prenatal counseling and testing
Families choosing the Children's Medical Center for their children's heart care benefit from a unique program structured to give children the best possible care. Our program works in partnership with surgeons at Children's Hospital Boston, the highest volume pediatric cardiac surgical program in the northeast. Therefore, all diagnostic and long-term follow-up care is performed locally, and all major surgeries and procedures are performed by the best available specialists, if needed, in Boston.
Support Groups
Friends with Heart is a support network for parents of children with congenital heart disease. The group strives to increase awareness of congenital heart disease, and reaches out to families to provide education and support. The group meets monthly in Worcester. Additionally, Little Hearts is another support network for children with congenital heart disease. The group sponsors several activities, including an annual summer picnic with hundreds of families affected by congenital heart disease. For more information, visit their web site.
