UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester evaluates and manages critically ill or injured patients in our state-of-the-art intensive care units (ICUs) on the Memorial and University Campuses. Patients are cared for around the clock by a team of intensivists (specially intensivists (specially trained critical care physicians) who coordinate and direct a multidisciplinary team consisting of physicians, physician assistants, nurses, respiratory therapists and technicians who specialize in the care of critically ill patients.
Our highly trained team cares for patients in specialized ICUs, including:
- Cardiac ICU
- Medical ICU
- Newborn ICU
- Pediatric ICU
- Surgical ICU
UMass Memorial also offers additional technology to support the treatment of critically ill patients in our ICUs. eICU audio and visual links allow intensivists to monitor ICU patients from an off-site support center and serve as a resource for bedside staff in caring for our most critical patients.
In addition, UMass Memorial offers specialized training for critical care physician assistants through our residency program.
