Our Cochlear Implant Program for children provides comprehensive services to meet the listening, speech and language, and academic needs specific to children who hear with cochlear implants. Components of this program include:
- Comprehensive evaluation
- Pre-implant training
- Consultation/choice of cochlear implant
- Individualized aural habilitation and educational support services
Staff from the cochlear implant team, the child’s school and outside agencies work together to deliver a comprehensive, cohesive and individualized program designed for each cochlear implant recipient. Parents are involved in each aspect of the program as active participants and decision makers to support the long-term habilitation necessary for maximum benefit to be realized.
