Quality Measures

The Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery and the Vascular Lab at UMass Memorial remain the busiest in Massachusetts, performing more than 3,000 procedures and 17,000 noninvasive vascular studies annually – all with consistently excellent outcomes.

Cutting edge procedures for vascular diseases
We offer the latest advances including branched endovascular grafts for treating specific types of aneurysms. We performed the first aortic branched endovascular graft in the state, and are also the only Massachusetts hospital in a national clinical trial for branched endovascular grafts in the iliac artery within the pelvis.

Code Rupture Program
The Medical Center has developed the Code Rupture Program, a treatment for patients with symptomatic or ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) that has reduced by half the mortality for this challenging condition.

Modeled on our highly successful reduction in door-to-balloon times for ST-elevated Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) patients, our AAA team is reducing door-to-incision time for AAA through precise coordination among emergency medical services, the emergency room and the operating room.
