Our pulmonolgists at UMass Memorial Medical Center offer the latest diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitative services, including:

  • Bronchoscopy - Evaluates and manages respiratory abnormalities, including abnormal chest x-rays, lung cancer, coughing up blood and respiratory infections
  • Cough clinic
  • Esophageal pH and impedance monitoring - Diagnoses gastroesophageal reflux disease, assesses its severity and correlates it with respiratory symptoms
  • Exercise testing with pulmonary monitoring - Assesses oxygen usage and carbon dioxide production
  • Home ventilation therapy
  • Positive airway pressure (CPAP and BiPAP) - Treats obstructive sleep apnea and provides ventilatory support to patients with respiratory muscle weakness
  • Pulmonary function testing - Determines how well patients' lungs are functioning and how well their current medical treatment is working
  • Sputum induction testing - Diagnoses lung infections and lung cancer

  • Transtracheal oxygen therapy - Delivers oxygen directly to the lungs through a small, flexible tube inserted into the windpipe
