UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester offers orthopedic trauma patients the region's only accredited Level One Trauma Center for adults and children. More than half of all patients admitted to trauma centers nationwide have musculoskeletal injuries requiring the immediate attention of orthopedic specialists. Providing optimal care for these patients is an essential task for our specialists who are trained and skilled in treating trauma patients with fractures, dislocations and injuries to ligaments, muscles, tendons and cartilage.
Utilizing a team approach, the specialists at the Duddie Massad Emergency and Trauma Center on the UMass Memorial - University Campus provide a continuum of care, including initial stabilization, resuscitation, triage, surgical intervention, intensive and acute hospital care, rehabilitation, injury prevention and research.
The orthopedic trauma specialists are supported by the full range of resources at the Medical Center, including the area's most advanced diagnostic imaging technology, featuring the region's first 64-slice computed tomography (CT) scanner.
