Skull base surgery at UMass Memorial Medical Center is a multidisciplinary program that provides comprehensive services to patients with diseases involving the skull base. The center is codirected by the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery and the Division of Neurosurgery.
The center provides a multidisciplinary team approach to the management of the following clinical problems in skull base surgery:
- Pituitary tumors
- Tumors of the nose, sinus and nasopharynx
- Spinal fluid leaks
- Cavernous sinus tumors
- Infratemporal fossa tumors
- Meningiomas
- Facial paralysis following temporal bone fracture
- Recurrent Bell’s palsy
- Vertigo surgery
- Chiari malformations
- Graves ophthalmopathy
- Orbital tumors
- Oculoplastic reconstructive surgery
- Intraocular malignancies
