Skull Base Surgery

Skull base surgery at UMass Memorial Medical Center is a multidisciplinary program that provides comprehensive services to patients with diseases involving the skull base. The center is codirected by the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery and the Division of Neurosurgery.

The center provides a multidisciplinary team approach to the management of the following clinical problems in skull base surgery:

  • Pituitary tumors
  • Tumors of the nose, sinus and nasopharynx
  • Spinal fluid leaks
  • Cavernous sinus tumors
  • Infratemporal fossa tumors
  • Meningiomas
  • Facial paralysis following temporal bone fracture
  • Recurrent Bell’s palsy
  • Vertigo surgery
  • Chiari malformations
  • Graves ophthalmopathy
  • Orbital tumors
  • Oculoplastic reconstructive surgery
  • Intraocular malignancies
