Traveler's Health

Infectious diseases specialists at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester provide a comprehensive service with individualized counseling on necessary precautions, immunizations, medications and medical care for travel-related illnesses for adults and children. As part of pretravel counseling, information may be obtained for referrals to outpatient clinics that provide Western-style medications in the countries visited.

Travelers' Health Services also works with adults who adopt children in foreign countries by preparing families for international travel, and by reviewing medical records and recommending care for newly adopted children.

Information regarding medical evacuation insurance, preventive therapy for high-altitude related illnesses, and accessing care in remote locations around the world is also provided. Due to the nature of these services, many insurance companies do not accommodate the costs involved. The service will, however, provide receipts to support claim reimbursement from a third party.

Travelers who fall ill upon their arrival back home can receive state-of-the-art medical care from our infectious diseases specialists.
