The Post-Surgery Discussion Group is for patients who have who have had weight loss surgery at UMass Memorial and want to share their experience and/or learn from the experience of others who have had surgery. The group discusses specific topics that include that are important to long-term success with weight loss.
Setting effective goals, discussing mindfulness techniques, planning and prioritizing, and defeating negative thinking patterns. The group focuses on specific topics important to long- term success.
The meetings, held on the first Thursday of every month, start promptly at 4 pm and last about an hour. Please arrive on time as seating is limited.
Topics include nutrition, exercise, plastic surgery, open forum and more. Check back soon for the remainder of the 2013 schedule.

Weight Center meetings are held on the first floor of UMass Medical School in the Hiatt Auditorium or Lazare Auditorium. These auditoriums are located on either side of the Medical School library. (Do not confuse with the Lazare Research Building, which is a separate building on the University Campus (directions).
Follow signs to the patient/visitor parking garage. Valet parking is available at the main patient entrance until 7:30 pm.
Enter the hospital through the Remillard Family Pavilion entrance. Proceed left through the lobby and follow the corridor to the end, and then take a left. The auditoriums are on the right side.
For those with severe mobility limitations, we strongly recommend being assisted by someone. Wheelchairs are available at the main entrance, if needed. The walk from the garage to meeting locations is quite long.
