Wing Memorial Hospital offers screening and diagnostic and digital
mammography services. The new digital low-rad Selenia model was
installed in 2007 and Wing Memorial Hospital is the first hospital in
the Quaboag Hills area to offer digital mammography. In addition, breast
ultrasound is available, as is breast MRI through a mobile unit
provided by Philips Imaging.
Computer-aided detection (CAD) is used by our radiologists as "a second
pair of eyes" when reading mammograms and breast MRIs. The radiologist
reviews the exam then activates the CAD software to re-evaluate the
marked area before issuing a final report. The software identifies
features on medical images and brings them to the attention of the
radiologist.
