Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Summary

Outpatient psychiatry and behavioral health services for adults and children are offered at the Griswold Center for Behavioral Health, as well as Wing Medical Centers in Belchertown, and Wilbraham. The Griswold Behavioral Health Center is a comprehensive outpatient mental health facility. The center offers medication management, therapy for individuals, couples and families, and addiction recovery services.

Our behavioral health services also include two inpatient programs:

Center for Geriatric Psychiatry  - This 15-bed center, approved by the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health, is designed for patients 55 and older and provides personalized geriatric psychiatry services in a safe, secure environment. Under the direction of the center's geriatric psychiatrist and medical director, the Center for Geriatric Psychiatry provides a multidisciplinary clinical assessment including geriatric psychiatry, nursing, occupational therapy and social work. Each patient participates in the development of his/her treatment plan, to the best of their ability, and every effort is made to coordinate the inpatient care with the support and care offered by family and/or community providers.

Parker North - This safe and secure 13-bed unit, approved by the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health, provides mental health treatment for patients experiencing acute mental illness. Under the direction of Parker North's medical director, the unit provides a multidisciplinary clinical assessment including psychiatry, nursing, occupational therapy and social work. Each patient participates in the development of his/her treatment plan, and every effort is made to coordinate the inpatient care with the support and care offered by family and/or community providers.
